Our vineyard is planted in a special, unorthodox place – Israel’s inner sea plain, on sandy loam, on a low hill at the south end of Moshav Meishar. The western slope of the vineyard allows the vines to be cooled by the see breezes even in the hottest summer days.
The vineyard is cultivated with a semi-organic approach, minimizing interference with the local wild flora and uses modern solutions to minimize chemical spraying while maintaining grape quality. The excellence of our wine is determined in the vineyard.
The treatment of the grapes after harvest (if you haven’t participated yet you are welcome to join) is minimal, to allow the special fruit growing in our vineyard to express itself fully.
Not from the sea, But from bus no. 5 Was Mariella flushed out. Not on a majestic cliff, But in a cafe at the street corner Did she drink and chat with me. Not on a bed of hyssop, But in a rented room on Trumpeldor street Did she lie against my body. (Meir Wieseltier, free translation)
The Grapemoth The poem needs a reader As the grapemoth needs a grape. The reader needs no poem: There’s enough stuff in the world. Too late, the poem’s eggs Are fermenting in your head And soon it will be filled With the hum of a thousand young wings Zeev Smilansky
Following three week fermentation the must is pressed in a traditional manual press and are returned for secondary fermentation sur-lies.
The next phase is aging for one year in 300Liter French Oak barrels.
Each year, after tasting the barrels, we assemble the different barrels into either varietal wines (Cabernet, Merlot, Shiraz, Mourveidre, Muscat) or blends. Meishar Muscat dessert wine is a category in itself.

Isaiah 5; The Song of the Vineyard 1. I will sing for the one I love a song about his vineyard: My beloved had a vineyard on a fertile hillside; 2. And he dug it and cleared it of stones and planted it with choice vines and built a watchtower in it, and cut out a winepress as well, and hoped to to have good grapes but it yielded only rotten ones. 3. Now you citizens of Jerusalem and people of Judah, judge between me and my vineyard 4. What more could I have done for my vineyard than I have done for it? when I looked for good grapes, why did it yield rotten ones?
